A prayer offered as 2020 draws to a close and we look to a new year ahead:
Lord, at one level we can’t wait to be done with 2020. It’s been a hard and difficult year. We’ve been stretched, grieved, shaken, and unmoored. Yet You have been faithful. You have held us close and kept us in Your love. You have never left our side. You have been our strength and our portion and the life of our days. Without You, we surly would have been lost. We thank You for Your presence with us throughout this past year.
We thank You for a new year ahead. New hopes and new opportunities are on the horizon. We thank You for the medical progress that is being made and the hope of a sense of normal returning, however many months it takes. We thank You that You are with us in 2021. As You have been faithful, we can now count on Your faithfulness in the uncertainties of an unwritten future. May we trust You and lean upon You in deeper and more meaningful ways in this coming year. Our eyes are upon You, O Lord, our Rock and our Redeemer. Would You bless us and be gracious to us in this year, we pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
