Like you, I continue to be gripped and grieved by the situation in Ukraine. Someone asked me the other day how we should be praying. I thought I’d share these ten ideas with you as well:
- Pray that God would redeem this situation by drawing many people to Himself.
- Pray that many would look to God as their ultimate source of peace, comfort, and strength.
- Pray that our brothers and sisters would place their ultimate hope not in governments or weapons, but in King Jesus.
- Pray for the welfare of the soldiers, their families, unprotected civilians, and vulnerable children.
- Pray that God would deliver from evil, and that truth, mercy, and justice would prevail.
- Pray for the containment of this conflict, which could easily spill over into a larger, global war.
- Pray for wisdom for the world leaders involved in critical decision making.
- Pray that the peace of God would guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
- Pray that God’s kingdom would come, and His will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
- Pray “Come quickly, Lord Jesus!”

Dr. Hamilton is Professor of Biblical Theology at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Preaching Pastor at Kenwood Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky.
