Today we celebrate the moment that everything changed!
Sin is canceled. Satan is defeated. And death itself is undone.
Jesus’ resurrection means the world will never be the same!
He is risen! He is risen indeed!
If this is your first time to The Moody Church—or your first time in a long time—I want to extend a warm welcome to you, with gratitude that you’ve chosen to worship with us this morning. God is on the move here at The Moody Church, and we love celebrating the joy of changed lives. We hope you are blessed by the life-transforming good news of Jesus this morning!
I’d like to give you a little sneak preview. Next week we’ll be launching a six-week series of messages on The Lord’s Prayer entitled On Earth as It Is in Heaven. If you’re like me, sometimes prayer raises more questions than answers. Does it even work? Am I doing it right? Am I using the right words? How can I know God is even listening?
Jesus’ early followers had similar questions about prayer, but they saw something different in Jesus. Jesus prayed with a confidence, closeness, and comfort that His disciples found mesmerizing. So they asked Jesus to teach them to pray like He prayed. They wanted to know what He knew. And Jesus gave them what we now call The Lord’s Prayer. It is a prayer that would change the world—and it can change our lives too, if we’ll let it.
For everyone who has struggled with prayer, this will be a life-giving study. Won’t you join us next Sunday?
Speaking of invitations, we’d love to have you join us for a reception in the Clarkview room (off the Extended Lobby) right after the service. Krista and I will be there, and we’d love to meet you!
You are loved, more than you know!
you said there was an earthquake on April 5, 36 A.D. What do you have for evidence of this earthquake. And were there two recorded earthquakes, one for the day of the Crucifixion and another for the day of the Resurrection?
I have a question I would like answered on the blog of this sermon. You mentioned a recorded earthquake that happened on April 5, 32, A.D. What evidence do you have of this earthquake date? A follow-up is; were there two confirmed earthquakes; one on the day of the crucifixion and the other on resurrection morning?
Hello Dwight and Sarah: In 2012, geologic researchers published evidence in the International Geology Review that indicated an earthquake occurred in Jerusalem on Friday April 3, 33 A.D. You can Google that for more info, but a few links to start:
