Merry Christmas from our family to yours! It seems like Christmas rushed upon us this year. We’ve been running hard to finish up with school, get all our presents wrapped and under the tree, attend all those festive gatherings with friends, and sneak in some family holiday traditions whenever we can. And now it’s here. Christmas is just around the corner. Into all our busyness, the stillness of Christmas dawns.
I pray that in the midst of all the crazy that attends our holidays, we might pause and let the wonder in. The Son of God has come to Earth. The infinite becomes an infant. The wonderous resides in weakness. The transcendent has come in tenderness. We’re beholding the becoming of blessedness. Be still, and know that He is God. Pause. Breathe. Rest. For your salvation is here.
“Christ, by highest heaven adored, Christ, the everlasting Lord. Late in time behold Him come, offspring of the virgin’s womb. Veiled in flesh the Godhead see; hail the incarnate Deity, pleased as man with men to dwell, Jesus, our Emmanuel. Hark, the herald-angels sing, ‘Glory to the newborn King!’”
Merry Christmas! For we are indeed loved, more than we know!
