The national election is right around the corner. In fact, early voting has already begun. Some folks have been asking me how we as Christians ought to vote. So, in the spirit of being helpful, here are ten ways we are to vote as Christians:
1. We vote as stewards who know the weighty responsibility of representing Christ in our body politic.
2. We vote as the salt and light of the world, representing Christ’s will “on earth as it is in heaven.”
3. We vote because of our love for God’s glory and because of our love for our neighbors’ flourishing.
4. We vote for what is good, true, real, and beautiful, reflecting the character of Christ.
5. We vote for what is righteousness, just, honorable, and peaceable, reflecting the reign of Christ.
6. We vote to advocate for the voiceless: the widows, orphans, unborn, sojourners, imprisoned, poor, and oppressed.
7. We vote knowing the Gospel is the true hope of the world as individuals trust and are transformed in Christ.
8. We vote remembering our citizenship is in heaven and it is from there that we await our Savior.
9. We vote resting secure in the fact that God is sovereign over all the nations, including our own.
10. We vote and then “go and be the church,” joining Jesus on mission, making disciples of all nations.
May the Lord grant us His grace as we vote in this election. May God bless His church as we represent Him in this world. And may we never forget that in Christ we are loved, more than we know
Well stated!
and Amen
