One of the things I most admire about Jesus is the fact that He doesn’t back down from anything. He’s so courageous and bold! And we see it clearly in this passion week as we continue our study in the Gospel of Luke.
During this week, the religious leaders come with all their pomp and authority, and try to intimidate Jesus into silence and inaction. But at every point, He outmaneuvers the traps they lay for Him. He is brilliant and savvy as He goes toe-to-toe with the brightest minds of His day.
The highest powers in the land will interrogate Him, from the Sanhedrin to Pontius Pilate the governor to Herod the Ethnarch. Jesus stands boldly before them all. He turns the tables and presses them for accountability.
And of course, His greatest demonstration of courage was when He boldly walked to the cross, embracing all the suffering and shame He knew must come for the redemption of the world. He never flinched. He never backed down.
Aren’t you grateful for the courage of Jesus? If His bravery could pass these tests, imagine the strength of His character as He stands as our defender and protector! We can stand for Jesus, because He will always stand for us. We are indeed loved, more than we know!
