I had a really early bedtime as a teenager. I’m the oldest of six kids. My parents just wanted a few minutes of peace and quiet in the evenings, so we all had to be in bed early. My little siblings fell right to sleep, but I struggled. So my Mom said I could either read or listen to Moody Radio, but I had to stay in bed.
Almost every night, I tuned in to sermons and other Christian programs for several hours. God used those small deposits over time to form and shape me as I learned what it meant to follow Jesus. I discovered heroes—like D.L. Moody, Billy Sunday, Billy Graham, and Jim Elliot—and through their examples, I began to sense God’s calling upon my own life. God was pouring His Grace into my life through Christian radio.
As I stepped into the Christian radio world this past week, I kept thinking back to
those days of early bedtimes. God’s Word proclaimed across the airwaves can powerfully change lives. I know. I’m one of them. So to have the joy of being on the broadcast side of the radio all these years later is both profoundly humbling and deeply touching. Who would have ever thought?
I’m grateful for yet another glimpse of the fact that in Christ we are indeed loved, more than we know.
Beautiful, instructive story, dear Pastor Philip…thank you for sharing!
I’d recently mentioned to others that you’d be great on the radio, and find that God has already orchestrated this new eta of spreading your good, always-enlightening, exciting teaching!
Thank you for being our Pastor!!!
