Dear Moody Church Family,

I hope you had a wonderful summer and had a chance to attend a Summer Seminar! The seminars
were a great lead-in for our fall ministry launch. As followers of Jesus, we want to not only know the
Gospel, but also “do” the Gospel (James 2:26).

This fall we’ll return to Luke and be considering The Way of Jesus (chapters 11–17). Jesus is our
supreme example of generosity as He gave away everything to redeem us. We cannot call ourselves
followers of Jesus without sharing His generous heart.

One of the passages Pastor Philip will be preaching on this fall is Luke 12:13–34. It’s the story of the
rich fool who stored up wealth on Earth followed by Jesus’ exhortation to His disciples to store up
treasure in heaven. This practice will orient their hearts toward heavenly things (v. 34).

In my previous career as an investor, the goal was always to find high returns with low risk. It’s a
difficult endeavor when the future is unknown! However, Jesus tells us the future: What you invest
in the kingdom will be preserved (Luke 12:33) and multiplied (Matthew 19:29). Investment
translation: No risk and high returns. Yes, Please! But Jesus isn’t after our money—He is after our
hearts! Will you trust Him with both? (To be clear, the returns Jesus promises are not always
material and not necessarily of this world.)

Our budget for the FY2024–25 is built to support the ministry we believe God has called The
Moody Church to undertake to our congregation, our city, and our world, but the church needs
higher levels of giving to fulfill this plan. When you give to The Moody Church, you are giving to
God’s kingdom through the church.

Finally, I want to say “Thank You” for your faithful giving to The Moody Church. Thank you for
joining us in praying, giving, and serving!

Together,
Bill Van Tuinen
Pastor of Global Outreach & Stewardship
